When my cousin Georgie was young, she used to make many elaborate plans for her birthday parties. Sometimes it seemed that the planning and anticipation were quite separate from the party itself, and each was great fun in its own way.

Sometimes when people make really over-the-top plans for an event, it almost seems as if the planning is more fun than the actual event! I have sometimes worried that the event will be a let-down after all the amazing plans, but in my experience it rarely is.
